Chiricahua is a hidden gem of a park. It lies at the intersection of desert and mountain, and so it seems like it's at two places at the same time. For one, it's in the far south desert--almost on the Mexican border--and secondly it's far into the sky, at 8,000 feet elevation. At times it's very hot, and at times it's very cold. Rock hoodoos rise up all around the canyon, some of them just down to being enormous balancing rocks the size of small houses.
