Ibex are one of the most conspicuous creatures in Israel's southern Desert. I have no idea what they eat. The landscape seems so terminally stark. Hardly a blade of grass to be seen anywhere. Unlike the deserts of the American Southwest, there are not rivers here, or trees, indicating some sort of underground reservoir. This is pure desert. And these ibex own it, though I heard stories while I was there of Arabian wolves, which used to live all over the area. People were saying that they'd made a resurgence in Israel. So maybe these Ibex shouldn't let down their guard.
